Taking care of our hands in a Pandemic
I think we can all agree, that there is great concern for keeping our hands sanitized, due to the recent events of a global pandemic. Washing our hands often, will contribute to dry skin, and can be very harsh on our hands. According to the Mayo clinic, " Many -popular soaps, detergents and shampoos, strip moisture from our skin, as they are formulated to remove oil."
While many of us are making a genuine effort to sanitize, we often fail to make an equal effort to moisturize.
It's just as important to keep hands moisturized, as it is to keep them clean; because lack of moister leads to things such as premature aging, dry skin problems and unattractive hands.
Some dermatologist insist that many of us wash our hands to often. Frequent handwashing without moisturizing can lead to premature aging. The Mayo Clinic states, "Dry skin shrivels plump skin cells, which can lead to premature fine lines and wrinkles." I'm sure we can also agree that no one wants to age prematurely. Many professionals insist we use products with SPF(Sun Protection Factor) in them. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, "Studies show 90% of wrinkles are caused by excessive exposure to the sun."
Anytime we constantly wash and/or sanitize our hands, dry skin problems can occur.
We can be proactive by doing things such as, using soaps and sanitizers with a moisturizing component in them. Experts suggest regular use of a good ointment or hand cream. I would look for one especially for dry skin. Dry skin and Premature ageing can almost certainly result in un-attractive hands.
Let's not spend such a great deal of time and effort on looking youthful in our face, only for our hands to reveal our age. For attractiveness, an anti-ageing skincare regimen applied to our hands should do the trick. If you already have a regimen for your face, just simply apply it to your hands also. An even more simple way is to combine a very small amount of anti-ageing cream with our hand cream from time to time.
To some things up, frequent handwashing is one of our best defenses, while facing this pandemic. So although some dermatologist disagree with moisturizing, I think its safe to consider that right now, we need to apply a reasonable amount of moisture.
